Given the relatively cut-and-dry nature of slot machine gameplay, there are few things that you can do to improve your game. We discussed a few tips in the other slots strategy sections, but the most important piece of advice had to wait for its own page.

Any experienced slots player will give you the same advice: bet max or bet nothing. The reason that we all say this is that we’ve all been in the same situation: playing for a while, possibly having mediocre luck, and suddenly we hit the giant ultimate mega jackpot. Except…what’s that? We only bet one credit? So we could have won 150,000…but we only bet one credit, so we get 500. Yay. Half of that is what we put into the machine in the first place…

The details change from player to player, but nobody hasn’t been there (whether they admit or not). Unless you truly don’t care about the size of your jackpots (I suppose ther are a few players like that), you owe it to yourself to either bet the maximum or to bet nothing at all.

If you love the game, but it’s getting a little expensive for you, just stop playing with real money. If you’re playing at any of the best online casinos, all you have to do is switch over to the “free money” or “play money” option in your software. Then you can play to your heart’s content and not worry about the money at all.

If you want to keep betting but you’re still somewhat reluctant to bet that amount, there’s an equally simple answer: take it down a notch. Instead of betting half on a dollar machine, bet maximum on a quarter machine. Instead of betting one quarter credit on a maximum fifty-cent machine, move to a nickel machine and put the maximum in each time. You’ll spend the same amount (or less) and you’ll have a much better chance of getting the Yay! jackpot instead of the Oops! jackpot.
