Most major online casinos offer welcome bonuses to new players. These bonuses come in two major categories:

No Deposit Casino Bonuses: you get these casino bonuses just for signing up. Call it “free” money. No deposit casino bonuses tend to be smaller (typically $20 or less) and usually have some withdrawal conditions (for example, players may need to deposit a certain amount of money before they can withdraw the welcome bonus — so that you don’t just cash out the no deposit bonus and leave without playing!).

Match Bonuses: more common than no deposit casino bonuses, these casino bonuses add a percentage of your deposit to your account. For example, a 50% match bonus up to $100 will give you a bonus of $100 for your $200 deposit, giving you a total of $300 to play with. Likewise, a 100% match bonus up to $100 doubles your deposit, so putting in $100 will give you a total of $200 in your account.

• Some match bonuses are specifically on the first deposit, some are spread out across multiple deposits. You may see a ‘$1000 Welcome Bonus‘ that offers you five deposits, each with an individual ‘100% up to $200‘ bonus.
• Match bonuses often require that you play a certain number of times before withdrawing (again, to ensure you don’t simply sign-up for the bonus and then immediately cash out!). Sometimes specific games will count more toward this requirement than others — for instance, playing slots will nearly always count in full towards your ‘clear’ total, but skill-based games like blackjack may only count for half. Be sure to check with your online casino’s terms before playing.

Special Bonuses – other types of online casino bonuses apply to specific games, or on certain deposit methods. Many online casinos will offer special daily (e.g., “Happy Hour”), weekly, weekend, or monthly bonuses. Special promotional bonuses are offered to celebrate new game releases or calendar events such as online casino anniversaries.
