Undeterred by the economic downswing, in Vegas, it’s business as usual.

Two casino operators are opening up new hotel towers today, which will add an influx of $1,575 hotel rooms; Planet Hollywood Resort which opens up the 1,201-room PH Towers, and the Hard Rock Hotel opening up its 374-room HRH Tower.

Planet Hollywood’s towers are primarily for extended-stay travelers, and have been built as time shares. In the rooms, long-term guests will find such convenient amenities as washers and dryers and full kitchens. The tower is a joint venture between Westgate – a timeshare company, and Planet Hollywood Resort, and complete room rollout will be complete by January 30th.

Meanwhile at Hard Rock, the all-suite HRH tower includes seven penthouse suites and eight spa / villas which will cater primarily to a higher-end, “boutique” crowd.
